I’m completely pro-Ukraine, anti-invasion, anti-Putin. But. I can’t take joy and amusement from these three conscripted young people marching obliviously to their death. The emotional tone of this post and many of its comments are fucked up.

My point is them being spotted and killed is a good thing for the Ukrainians. I’m not going to blame people for being happy about it. Also you’re taking a lot of agency away from the Russians here. A not insignificant number of them are contracted rather than conscripted, especially the ones on the front.
Regardless of whether they are conscripts or mercs, the whole premise of this post is that they are deeply ignorant. And their ignorance is being exploited to the detriment of both themselves and others. These three people are clearly not people that need to be demonized (*) and dehumanized, except so that we can feel good about killing vulnerable victims on the other side before they can kill us.
*) Criticism and demonization are not the same thing. It is absolutely fair to be critical that they are not sacrificing themselves for others. To mock them as “clowns” and insist that they deserve to die for being stupid is not criticism, it’s self-manipulation.

Because they could just shoot people instead of using drones? Drones are used in Ukraine because they provide a good overview of the front lines, are able to also defeat tanks, among other things, and can attack targets inside enemy territory from a distance. Of course I have no idea what a civil war in the US would actually look like, but MAGA is not fighting for territory (or not yet, I guess), let alone with tanks and in trenches.
My point is the news has you convinced that disarming yourselves is the answer, while I have (admittedly anecdotal) evidence that MAGA is indeed arming itself with drones.
I don’t really care what anyone thinks, you can assume whatever makes you feel safe.
Do they also have explosives to put on the drones? Drones alone won’t help. And no, “the news” hasn’t convinced me of anything, my brain did. If most people don’t have guns, there isn’t any need for more guns. Amazing how that works, right? This concept works perfectly in most of the world. So disarming is the only logical answer, if everyone is forced to give up their guns (or at least the more dangerous ones, like AR-15s).
