WTF no, no! They are an extremist far right Hindutva group, and their exodus seems to have happened after r/chodi and r/IndiaSpeaks were purged from Reddit recently on behest of Time magazine criticising Reddit.

They are absolute scum that spread Islamophobia, and even have their Hindi/Hinglish phrases for casually discussing genocide of lower castes and minorities in India.

None of you outside India have a clue what they are, so it is normal to not know about these people. They are basically creating a worse Gab out of their own Lemmy instance. If wolfballs seemed bad, this is Gab dialled up to level 9.

You can see their logos they use for bakchodi.org: https://bakchodi.org/pictrs/image/75527774-902e-4ccb-9a1a-16daf7272a9a.png . Here you see Reddit Snoo mascot with a tilak, and implying the Akhand Bharat imagery, basically the nationalist fascist idea of India from 6000 BC, where other countries are also part of India.

Another image they recommend to spam and watermark their memes with is this, again implying the nationalist fascist idea of Akhand Bharat (one India): https://bakchodi.org/pictrs/image/fb62eb8f-861c-4dfb-8f93-8c9c8d08d862.png

Here is a thread there started by @nutomic a month ago, welcoming them to lemmy and suggesting that they enable federation. (tldr, some admins reply but they don’t say anything about federation; another user implies that they maybe don’t want federation yet but might later.)

I hope they turn on federation! edit: after reading the above comments 🤦‍♂️

@nutomic is certainly a good ambassador for Lemmy. That sort of informative welcome would make most new instances feel more committed to joining the Lemmy bandwagon.

It looks like so. Feels weird how they have garnered so large userbase in so short time, but on the other hand it’s India, a laaaaaarge country.
