Whoa, that’s so weird. The social structures intentionally and consistently attempting to remove autonomy from a subset of the population are unpopular among that same subset. I can’t understand why. It’s like, kitchen anti-abortion nuclear family, amiright fellas?

“The crackdown on women […] also stems from growing anxieties many evangelicals have about what they see as swiftly changing norms around gender and sexuality in America.”

“Swiftly changing”? This stuff changed in the 70’s!

This is why the GOP and conservatives are so bat shit off the walls lately. Their belief system is on deaths door and they know that if they don’t take power now, they’ll never regain it.

The U.S. isn’t the only nation that has Christians. I’d argue that the Christians in modern western civilization are actually just Christians in name only compared to that of Christians in non-western nations.

However, I feel that it is democracy that is the killer of conservatism of any sort.

Uh… Like the other guy said FGM is an African practice with no origin in Islam. Like go get me a hadith where any early Muslim of note does it.

Furthermore any religion that prohibits women from getting an education above grade-school level, and prohibits them from having their own money, having a career,

Well good thing Islam doesn’t forbid any of that then.

I mean it was the other guy that needlessly inserted Islam into the conversation but if you’re gonna criticize a religion can you at least stick to the facts?

FGM is an African practice, regardless of whatever religion they’ve inherited.

Islam doesn’t prohibit women from getting an education. You got that from Afghanistan, when the Taliban temporarily banned women and young girls from going to school because the U.S. was injecting western values (degeneracy) into their curriculum.

Islam doesn’t… lmao prohibit women from having their own money. In fact, women who earn money, have no obligation to give that money to anyone. They can decide to for charity if they’d like. As for not showing their face, that’s cultural as well… because all that is obligated is for women to cover their hair (amongst other body parts), like the early day Jewish and Christian women. Boohoo… you’re mad because women are modest and not showing off everything they have like modernists.

In fact it is western civilization that has sexualized women. Turned them into sex objects. The countless ads where women were used to influence views and sales. You ruined women so badly that you created a monster - western feminism and all the ills it has created between both men and women.

Go ahead hate Islam all you want, all it does is create more curiosity, later, conversion to Islam.

Pssst… 9/11 pique my interest. And alhamdullilah, God chose me.

          Stay mad.

Islam punishes women for being gay. And don’t give me the “Well, ackchually, Muhammad never explicitly forbade…” bullshit because it is irrelevant. In most Muslim-majority countries, being queer is met with imprisonment at best and the death penalty at worst.

And? Homosexuality isn’t acceptable in any of the Abrahamic Religions. Why should said religion bend at the will of people, especially secularist? I simply pointed out the fact that in Islam, abortion is acceptable, of course within certain boundaries.

            Red herring.

            • Christianity doesn’t allow abortions for women so it is bad for women.
            • Ah, but Islam does allow abortions, so it is good for women!
            • Islam punishes gay women, so it is bad for women.
            • But other religions punish gay women, too!

Yeah, no shit. My point wasn’t that Islam is the only religion that does it. My point is that Islam is a bigoted religion. Christianity also happens to be a bigoted religion. Judaism is a bigoted religion. They are all dogshit, which is the whole point of the article and why women are leaving them.

Reference to “History of the World, I guess.”

It has a running theme of religions forming, then during all the beheadings in France it says “You can make a religion out of this” followed quickly by someone retorting “No, don’t.”

Iʼd flee too if church leaders were matchmaking me in order to enforce racial divides. Mormon church example, emphasis mine:

We recommend that people marry those who are of the same racial background generally, and of somewhat the same economic and social and educational background (some of those are not an absolute necessity, but preferred), and above all, the same religious background, without question” (“Marriage and Divorce,” in 1976 Devotional Speeches of the Year [Provo: Brigham Young University Press, 1977], p. 144).

Source: Aaronic Priesthood Manual 3. (1995). churchofjesuschrist.org. Chapter 31 “Choosing an Eternal Companion”. Accessed 2024-06-13.

Context: This manual is what is currently taught to young men beginning at age 12.

Religion is always organized. That’s the definition of it. It’s organized belief. Take away the organization (= rules on how to believe / act), and you’re left with personal beliefs.

    Fuck all religions :)

Mixing religion and politics has made both worse. When your values and your religion are mismatched one will have to give. In this case it’s religion. While I know some churches know this most do not. Especially those who are more politically connected. You made your bed now watch women leave it

Don’t discount the idea that their fundamental drives/perversions are not the primary reason for nearly all of their actions. At the heart of these broken people is the idea that they can control women so they are free to rape them at will. They wont put it that way but lets face it that is what they want.

I’m a middle aged white male. As a result when meeting these petty little people I often hear comments and opinions that make it clear they have little respect for women or anyone who does’t share their pigmentation and religion. I’ve met some truly horrible people. Not that they are the majority but it seems the more wealthy they are the more unhinged they are. All I have to do keep silent to hear it. I’ve heard these trash ideas many times from sad little garbage humans who think women taking a pill or controlling their own bodies is the reason why they can’t ‘keep’ a woman. The idea that they are wrong never enters their mind. They blame everyone but themselves for their troubles. Nothing would please them more than to be able to make a woman a owned object and to be sure its their final goal. Along with anyone who they don’t agree with or approve of.

The stats they’re using refer to the increase in women identifying as “unaffiliated” regardless of starting religion. However, the examples and stories they use refer to Christianity specifically.

So the title is right, just the article as a whole is just weirdly focused on Christianity

True enough, but that’s almost completely because they’ve leaving Christianity. Upon reading the title I thought religion as a whole was in decline in the US, which isn’t very inaccurate but Christianity is clearly an outlier here.
