Most of the Apps that appear in the “safe” category aren’t the ones that first come to mind when thinking about privacy respecting services^^ I mean MS, Google, Netflix, Discord…

Yeah, take that with a grain of salt, definitely, but I’m just relaying what the article says.

I can’t see WhatsApp and Telegram in there. Were they not contemplated or are they actually better that these (doubt)?

“Whatsapp” in latin means “stealing of data”, that’s why it isn’t that table

getting really tired of these linear models and scales. people are ending up so worried about which is /more/ invasive or /worse/ for privacy and it just makes a lot of noise that doesn’t really help anyone and doesn’t give a good picture of whats happening.

the modern business model of these corporations is just to funnel data to threat actors. that’s all they do, from any major social media platform, to any provided service, they’re just malware now funneling data to threat actors. there’s no way to guarantee where that information goes or what its used for.

its not really worth pointing out which is the biggest funnel for data to threat actors, its just understanding that they are funnels for data going to threat actors

This site says Netflix tracks 0% of your data. If that were true they’d have no clue who watches what. Something is fishy.

It says that Netflix doesn’t share data with third parties, it could be they just use the data they collect internally to recommend more content

Surprised that Wechat isn’t there but TikTok is. Does this mean that Wechat is actually privacy respecting?

Since it isn’t mentioned at all, maybe it just wasn’t considered in the report.
