I think i might be able to live with it if i have option of using something else too but I dont want to have to move again if things become unbearable, like with windows now.

I use gui more for file management. I dont like using the terminal for that since I have to remember everything constantly.

Why isnt the /home separate from /root by default? Frankly I dont see any benefits from it being in there.

Also, what is your opinion on kubuntu vs fedora regarding this? I’m quite torn between them, kubuntu seems nice and easy to use but I fear its developers might do stupid decisions if they are already annoying people with the snaps. Fedora seems more secure but it might require a lot of tinkering to get things to work and might be more prone to problems that need troubleshooting.

kubuntu seems nice based on descriptions. I’m mostly torn between that and fedora now. I have always been a little anxious about malware and cyberattacks. But to temper my “paranoia” i’m also a bit lazy or rather want to avoid needless work. Is it easier to make kubuntu as secure as fedora than make fedora as easy to use as kubuntu? I even asked the ai about it and it said fedora might require more manual configuration. Then there is also the perspective of threat actors which would likely rather target the most popular choice. I fear that might become more relevant in the future as world is going to shit.

the kde website has bunch of distributions. opensuse, neon, fedora, manjaro, kubuntu. Does it matter which I pick? I chose fedora mostly on a whim. I have understood that plasma is something separate to this and probably included in anything kde related…? What is the fundamendal difference between these?

i’ll use virtualmachines for things that i cant get to work without windows and separate pc for those that dont work even then. I dont want windows to have any access to my main pc.

Look, I didnt remember it was like that, but i understand that how i described it looks quite bad after the fact. If it does that then its worthless as search site as who knows what else it might remove. At this point it might be better to just delete this whole post or change it to just list every search engine everyone knows.

I’m not sure what to look for if there is something hidden. I cant tell if there are any odd processes but everything seems to be signed correctly. There is nothing odd in C root either and i wouldnt know what to look for from the folders. There are no odd installed applications either.

I have had similar scare before when I installed a game I downloaded from skidrow reloaded website.(over year ago) The installer did something with cmd window, something about system image, i dont remember anymore. The file was also too big for scanner to scan and I dont think virustotal accepted it either due to size. However, I did system restore after that.

I also asked an acquittance who works in some tech company to help, even showed the install process to him, but he said it didnt seem dangerous. I have also been running r-kill occasionally and doing scans with hitmanpro’s early detection but they havent found anything either. I have also been occasionally monitoring things with tools from sysinternals but I’m not sure if i would even notice if anything was odd.

If it is new malware, scanners wouldnt pick up on it.
On behavior tab there is tons of stuff. Shouldnt there be none? I dont know too much about virustotals results mean, but doesnt the mitre thing mean it could potentially do something like that?
