I like how it’s no longer remotely relatable to have a loser character who owns a house, even though hi is a shitty one-bedroom with a high interest rate in a terrible neighborhood. Carl’s shitty house might as well be a French Rococo mansion, a character like him in 2024 would be sharing a room at an Extended Stay America.
