99% of the reason that I use Reddit is to share cool things with like-minded people in podcast and movie subreddits (e.g. r/LPOTL, r/MST3k). However, I don’t see any communities like these in the Lemmy or Kbin world when searching in all communities.
Is there something I’m missing?

Like the other person said you have to look it up first in browse.feddit.de first to see if it even exits somewhere in the first place. It also doesn’t update instantly and since things are happening fast right now you might also check lemmy.ml and sopuli.xyz directly. Also once you find the community, you might have to search and then wait a while and then come back later and search again because not all external communities are cached and it takes a while to ingest from your search request. Also check the instances page at the bottom as communities on blocked instances will not work! This is my first 3 hours in a nutshell. Welcome!
There is also !movies@bolha.social which is a super quiet Brazilian/English instance if you want to crosspost / share the love there. So far population me
!redlettermedia@sopuli.xyz is another one that was set up ages ago but lacks posts.
