at the very least give me a significant number of attempts before prompting. if I’ve only tried 2 or 3 times and you’re already asking if I wanna turn down difficulty you can fuck off
The ones that piss me off are the ones that require you to acknowledge them with a button press.
If a game is too hard I turn down the difficulty without a second thought. It’s a single-player game, I’m not impressing anyone by the difficulty I play at. I might well look an idiot for persisting at a higher difficulty out of misplaced pride though.
I break out Cheat Engine and I’m not ashamed of it either. I look for the story and sometimes I just like to be a complete asshole to super bosses since I know they would be to me. I still have fun and that’s all I care about.
I was already on the lowest difficulty. You aren’t helping, loading screen tip.
I got this one in E33 a lot. No, game, you don’t understand. I CAN fight this boss. I NEED to beat this boss before I move on.
Oh man, I’m currently watching a Let’s Play of basically a puzzle game, and the game has some logic where when the player doesn’t make progress for a certain timeframe, then the narrator says variations of “If you’re stuck, remember, you can always undo.” and “Having some trouble? You can restart the level and try again!”.
Now they’re playing the later levels, which are supposed to have you scratching your head for a bit. And you can hear the narrator say those phrases seemingly every minute, even though they’re frequently using undo and restart.
Really feels like the devs discovered during playtesting that players forget about undo and level restart, but then never did another playtest to get the feedback that it needs to be toned down.
“You have died 3 times to the same weak-ass mob. Would you like to enable Baby Mode? This will make the game play itself, but your character is forced to wear a baby bonnet and pacifier.”
I’d rather go back to games like Doom, that simply insuinated you are a coward when you attempt to quit.

Shut up, Clippy!
Lol pride comes before the fall. If you wanna see the end, then get there how you can. Most people dont finish games, even easy ones. So like, isnt it more respectful of the devs if you see their whole creation even if you gotta cheat or bump difficulty down from the “intended experience?”
