TNG S4E16 Galaxy’s Child
This episode has so much cringe in it.
Geordie setting up a meeting and trying to make it into a date is a lot. Plus omitting that he had the computer summarize her files to resolve a critical crisis, while using the information he got from her file in discussing with her is not good.
Brahms does an excellent job letting him down and putting up firm boundaries.
But oh god, when she discovers the holodeck program, and then Geordie rant!
It’s tough to watch in a totally different way than the Quark Gender swap episode.
DS9 S04E20 “The Muse”
Jake Sisko does like… alien drugs. While that girl keeps rubbing his head and is feeding on his brain power/creativity. Been awhile.
Where the presence Lwaxana is the least awkward part of the episode.

No argument there. Getting older and rewatching each series after several years has made her one of the best recurring characters.
One thing I really admire about her is that she always seems to instantly know precisely how serious something is, and then she makes light of it exactly until that level.
For example supporting Odo when he couldn’t stay solid, she made it not shameful and just reassured him. Or when she casually pointed out those two fish face assassins the second time she was on enterprise, they weren’t a threat in stasis, so she just called them ugly until it was time go.
She kept overly serious Picard on his toes in a way nobody else possibly could. She showed Alexander there was a whole other side of life when he was dealing with loss and a father who was pushing too hard to make up for his “Klingon” identity.
When that scientist came on the ship she knew she could throw decorum out and hit on him, but when he was going to be euthanized she pushed hard to help.
She just gives exactly the right amount of fucks in ever scenario, and she does it in the opposite way as stoic Picard, she’s a wonderful chaotic contrast.
Well said. The bit with Odo, where she removes her wig in empathy/solidarity, shows the kind of strength of character she possessed.
Lwaxana was an interesting character, but it definitely took them a while to dial her in and make her fun to watch. Though that’s also kind of the entire show.
“Nerdy guy who has trouble with women” has been a decent premise for a story for a long time. It even allows for some character development.
But the way it was handled in TNG with Geordi was terrible. Geordi, and LeVar Burton deserved a lot better than that.
Dude struck out twice with Julie Warner from Tommy Boy.
It wasn’t until his interaction with Zalkonian that he developed the confidence to interact with her without being an asshat.

Neither could Geordi. She was tossing him softballs of conversation starters, but all he could do was fumble his words. Tommy at least had the confidence to be himself, buffoonish though that may be.
You’ve named some strong contenders, but don’t forget the episode where Kes goes into heat
Omg, I forgot about the Quark episode. I’ve only seen DS9 once. Both those episodes strengthen my core with the extreme cringe they induce.
It had so much potential to demonstrate women’s issues, then someone went “let’s juxtapose the seriousness of rape with a Benny Hill esque scene Quark getting chased by a gross man in his underwear”
When you said “Quark Gender Swap” I assumed you were referring to when they put Quark’s head on a hologram of sexy Major Kira.

Good catch. So many recycled actors among the various series. At least they gave Combs some degree of disguise with makeup and prosthesis.
What are you saying? I honestly never caught that and watching next post I’m sure it’s the hair style that confused me.
Apologies if I wasn’t very clear. Her appearance in DS9 seems hardly disguised compared to when other guest actors are repurposed.
Perhaps it was for budgetary reasons. I simply saw her as Brahms in a Starfleet uniform.

Geordie is an incel. Any interaction he has with a woman is hard to watch.
I don’t know if he’s an Incel… he lacks the hateful parts of that subculture but he is abundant in awkwardness, ignorance, and inappropriate advances.
I think there are a few episodes he gets let down and just kinda sighs and accepts it, which isn’t too bad.
Worse, he’s an ENGINEER
Geordi has “the knack”
Geordi canonically has a 2 daughters who I’m pretty sure are not androids.
I haven’t seen all Star Track yet. Only gotten to Next Generation for now.
But the episode with Kirk and Miri just felt wrong for me
I still wonder, if Voyager would have been better or worse with her as Janeway.
