sigmaklimgrindsetto politics @lemmy.world•The world is now reversing course to reject Trumpism92·1 day agoNo one is saying neoliberalism is as far right as fascism. However fascism has a cloak of populism that it can hide under that neoliberalism can never do because they are tied to corporate interests in varying degrees. As such, a lot of working class people gravitate towards fascists who pay lip service to working class struggles.
At the end of the day, both neoliberals and fascists benefit from an undereducated and overworked population. That is why we need true alternatives that support the working class
sigmaklimgrindsetto World News@lemmy.world•Dozens of Palestinians starved to death under Israel’s blockade of GazaEnglish902·3 days agoI genuinely don’t know what to do while reading news about Palestine. Donations don’t help if the food isn’t getting through the blockade, the biggest powers of the Western world seem to be in support of or turning a blind eye, and I as a citizen halfway across the world feel absolutely helpless as I watch children willfully being bombed and starved to death.
I got mine done by a clinical psychology master’s student supervised by their professor. It was half the price (and my insurance ended up covering 40%), no GP referral required. If anyone reading this has a college or university near them, check if they have that option. Added bonus is that the students are usually more up to date on current diagnostic criteria compared to someone who has been practicing in the field for a while.
I also get my dental check ups done at the university dental school for the same reason.
sigmaklimgrindsetto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Chances for the fediverse? Elon Musk takes hit as Europeans ditch X in drovesEnglish161·7 days agoEwww people actually use Threads? Last time I saw it, it was like LinkedIn 2.0 filled with sigma grindset “chase that bag” crap.
I wish I could tell you, but I failed all my fascism math courses.
While this is true, I don’t think advocating of “punching fascists” is on a policy level, but rather an individual one.
Why would ask a trans individual to respect the “human rights” of someone that doesn’t even see them as human?
sigmaklimgrindsetto World News@lemmy.world•Carney's Liberal party wins Canadian election and completes a stunning turnaround fueled by TrumpEnglish10·8 days agoCannot believe I’m living in an era where Alberta is more separatist than Quebec.
sigmaklimgrindsetto World News@lemmy.world•Carney's Liberal party wins Canadian election and completes a stunning turnaround fueled by TrumpEnglish1·8 days agoNo one who has any political awareness would give the liberals credit for that. That was the NDP’s contribution.
A lot of voters aren’t aware. If it’s not being blasted on repeat by a news channel, then at least 50% of the electorate has no idea what’s happening. We’re also so inundated with American politics that Canadian news gets drowned out as well.
sigmaklimgrindsetto World News@lemmy.world•Carney's Liberal party wins Canadian election and completes a stunning turnaround fueled by TrumpEnglish1·8 days agoYeah, I was 95% sure it was an NDP mandate, but I also have an awful memory so I was open to being corrected.
sigmaklimgrindsetto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•What happened in Canada is the appropriate reaction to when a dictator says he wants to take over your country.8·8 days agoWe may not have Fox News, but we have lots of right news media (Post Media, The Globe and Mail, Stephen Crowder). The Conservatives have also been running ads for over a year attacking Trudeau, something that is blatantly against Canadian election laws, but clearly they found some sort of loophole, and these are more than likely being funded by conservative groups from down south or overseas.
For any Canadians that don’t know, this is what Harper (our former conservative PM) is up to now.

sigmaklimgrindsetto Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada election: Liberals will form next government, CBC News projects10·8 days agoIt may not have been as bombastic, but any scientist living through the Harper governments DID get the American experience. We are trying to recover from that scientific crippling to this day.
sigmaklimgrindsetto Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada election: Liberals will form next government, CBC News projects23·8 days agoAnyone listen to PP’s speech? How is bro still saying he’ll stay on as leader after pulling an Atlanta Falcons
Also, this election proved to me that the Quebec hate is so forced. Push comes to shove they know what elbows up means, unlike Alberta and Sask.
sigmaklimgrindsetto World News@lemmy.world•Carney's Liberal party wins Canadian election and completes a stunning turnaround fueled by TrumpEnglish37·8 days agoBro I need gaslighting lessons from PP; how is he losing his riding, losing an election he has polled 20+ points in the lead in for almost two years, and yet gives a speech where he not only says he will stay on as leader, but makes it seem like losing the election was his desired outcome??
Really sad about Jagmeet and the NDP wipeout tbh. I know why it happened, but if I’m not mistaken the universal pharma and dentalcare we have now were initiatives pushed by the NDP that the Liberals get credit for because they were the ones holding the PM seat.
sigmaklimgrindsetto Games@lemmy.world•No, Phil Spencer, Having AI Mock Up An Old Game Is Not The Same As Preserving ItEnglish7·2 months agoAccording to their Wikipedia, Techdirt only accepted money from Charles Koch’s foundation for a lawsuit (amongst other donors), and are owned by Floor64.
Floor 64’s website only has 2 people listed in their management team, but I couldn’t dig up if either are linked to the Koch’s (I was pretty cursory about it though).
The article was worth a read for this quote alone:
VGHF library director Phil Salvador puts it even more simply: “Generative AI video is a great way to preserve video games, in the sense that mirages are a great source of water.”
sigmaklimgrindsetto Science Memes@mander.xyz•That's why it's called science fiction duhEnglish72·2 months agoI’m literally so confused, what are you even arguing about anymore? That Pew poll regarding scientific distrust is specifically related to the Covid pandemic, but you’re taking about measles, and also how this has been going on for a decade. Which is it, and why are the sociological elements I’ve mentioned before not value added according to your authority?
All this over a simple comment about the Human Genome Project.
Again, enjoy your crashout. If you feel validated, that’s all that matters ig 🤷♂️
sigmaklimgrindsetto Science Memes@mander.xyz•That's why it's called science fiction duhEnglish82·2 months agoMeasles vaccinations being down can also be linked to mandatory vaccination laws being taken off the books across states during the last decade. It says nothing about the inherent levels of scientific education of the parents doing so.
Previously, parents were mandated by law to have their children vaccinated at birth or to attend schools. We don’t know if they would have opted to vaccinate their kids if it wasn’t mandatory, and it definitely doesn’t point to them “appreciating science” more.
Again, very condescending reply from you, considering correlation /= causation is a basic rule of research.
Enjoy your crashout, ig.
I have learned that SO MANY coffee drinkers don’t understand that certain teas have to be brewed at certain temperatures. They take green, black, white, jasmine and brew all of them into boiling water!
Anyways, I do not get this coffee vs tea feud. I drink it all, sometimes even in the same day, and I thank my ancestors for discovering leaf in hot water and bean in hot water both taste good.
