Apparently you’re supposed to read this from right to left. I didn’t realize that until I was half way through and it wasn’t making a ton of sense.
Yes. It’s a bonus page from the manga, which is of course right to left in the original Japanese, and remains so unless the layout of the art was to be mirrored.
I love how in this one, they’re harvesting mandrakes on the second floor and a random farmer just shows up to talk about them.
And then a viking(?) appears to suggest eating the poison root?!
I’m enjoying these shared pages, thank you! but it fucks me up everytime that these are read right-to-left, haha.
That’s Senshi, the dwarf in the group. They DO eat them, in the story it’s a magical plant with a dangerous scream, but edible roots.
The plant also exists in reality, the panel is warning against eating it for real because the irl plant, the mandragora, is poisonous.
