I’m going out to a martini bar after work but will probably settle in with a glass of Lagavullin 16 when I get home.

A little Tullamore Dew for the evening. It’s not the greatest but it is sufficient. If I want something I like, I’ll default to Elijah Craig.

I’ve always defaulted to Teeling’s or Jameson for Irish (or Redbreast if I’m celebrating). I finished my bottle of Teelings last night, so maybe I’ll pick up a bottle of Tulla this weekend.

I’ve only had the toasted barrel EC, how’s the standard bottle?

I got a bottle of King Car Whisky (Conductor) a while back that I’ll be returning to this evening. It is my first Taiwanese whisky, so I’m having a lot of fun with it.

I’ve never even heard of this. The only taiwanese I’ve had was a Kavalan that burned my mouth before I’d ever really had high proof spirits. I’ve had a glass of soloist a couple times since and it’s a treat.

I’d love to hear your thoughts/notes on the King Car!

Mmm I love a “grippy mouthfeel”. I’ve never heard that description before.

Sounds a bit like that first Kavalan that I had, whatever it was.

It definitely has a lot of personality. Water (or a few pieces of ice if you’re a savage like me) is a good move with this one.

Yeah that’s exactly what that bottle needed in hindsight.

The first time I added some water to my whiskey it was like a cheat code. Some whiskeys are so different with the addition of water it’s like a 2 for 1 deal.

No shame in adding ice, there are a lot of things I prefer on the rocks.

No shame in my game - just wanted to show my cards. I’ve met some purists over the years who seem to take icing a whiskey as a personal offense. “You added ice to ____??? What’s wrong with you?” Psh. There may be something wrong with me, but it’s nothing compared to the internal mental cluster---- that leads to being offended by someone else putting ice in their drink.

Recently got a bottle of Black and White scotch while in Mexico. It was cheap and it goes down smooth. Tastes excellent with a cigar. Probably going to enjoy that tonight.

A fine choice! My go-to is Talisker 10, and I’m partial to an Oban 14, too.
