…was not today. Nor was it homebrewed, but when I turned 21 (I’m in the US), my first drink was a beer that my dad and I brewed together. I thought y’all might enjoy the pic.

    That’s awesome. A belated ‘Cheers!’

Was this brewed in a more industrial setting? I like stories of brewers and such having such celebratory drinks. Heard about some distillers that made a batch of whiskey when their kids were born so it’d be 18 years old when the kids are legally allowed to drink (this was at Teeling in Ireland)

It was brewed in our garage, but he did have a pretty souped up setup. I’m seeing him tonight for dinner, I’ll ask him for more specifics.

We made the red ale, an Irish dry stout, and a cider IIRC.

Then we moved and he has to sell all of it. I’m sur he’ll buy it again someday.

I am now 21 and my dad taught me how to brew when I was about 15yo and now I probably will work in brewery.

That’s great! I bet that kind of experience at your age is rare! Any favorite styles that you’ve brewed?

I live in Czech Republic, so country of lagers, my dad is pretty conservative so we don’t brew much of ales and other similar styles. For me Pilsner or Czech lager is routine brew for others it is the peak of their homebrewing.

I started 3 years ago making ciders (you can’t get decent cider here) and I really like them. Each year I experiment with different yeasts and apple mix and last year was perfect - good amount of apples, I didn’t make bombs …

So apple cider is my favourite brew (but I can make them once a year).

Studoval jsem v Praze a mluvím trochu česky!

I miss it, and need to go back! I don’t think I had any ciders while I was there, I’ll look for some on my next trip.

That would be awesome, I was looking at the koruna I brought home as keepsakes, but they are asking to be spent!
