From the fan perspective, I definitely enjoy shorter, faster paced games. For the most part, it seems like the players have adjusted but there’s still some minor growing pains of the new rules.
As someone who’s not very into baseball but goes to a minor league game every once in the while I love the pitching timer. There’s no more minutes (probably an exaggeration) of pitcher/batter getting ready (spitting out sunflower seeds). It really makes it so much more enjoyable.
I arrived late to the only game I’ve been to this season and thought we’d miss the first couple innings or so. We were shocked to find that it was already the 5th inning by the time we were in our seats! Definitely a noticable difference in pace of play and the length of the game. It’s surprising is how little eliminating the shift has impacted BABIP.
yeah, much as i enjoy a good Baseball Game as Social Outing, not spending 4 hours at a game anymore unless it’s a real pitching duel or something is fine by me. (also makes it substantially better TV viewing, imo, if you’re a sicko who does that)
