They keep the posts public long enough to get comments. I think they’re testing the waters for Reddit spam potential. They’ve got a couple of posts that got 300+ upvotes that I think were harmless meme posts to establish credibility before they started phishing.
Google does crawl Lemmy though. It could be a page rank thing also.
Maybe they hope that this gets federated out to instances that don’t honour the deleted flag?
Or these posts are still visible to site scrapers like the Google bot and this could effect page rank on search engines?
