Thoughts and prayers and lessons. Kittilä deserves this as one of the more zealous developers of tourism destinations. I hope they never get that access to Pallas they want so they could “develop” that too for more mass tourism…
No. Tourism is the current lifeblood of the local economy, but it must not be allowed to grow unchecked, or it will spoil the landscape and as a result also sabotage that tourism. More specifically, I was referring to Kittilä politicians and their recent talk of getting Pallas back from Muonio because “they haven’t developed it”. The whole reason anybody would go there currently instead of Levi for example, is that it hasn’t been “developed” into a full blown ski resort covered in hotels and clubs. The brightest night sky I ever saw was on a nearby fell in the heart of winter during a new moon. If pallas got covered in ski slopes with the stupidly bright lights, that would be gone. Thankfully it’s a national park so it won’t happen any time soon, but the fact that they’re still talking about it is concerning.
And why did you mix ethnicity into this?
Well, they are indigenous lands…
