I hear you. But - and this is a “for what it’s worth” - she’s been pretty strident in her support of Ukraine and the reasons for. Which, is a lot better than the Qanon addled republiQans in the US.
She grew up as leader of the youth of the Italian fascist party, the same as Mussolini, simply rebranded by a fascist hierarch after ww2.
She’s now trying to say whatever is more convenient to persuade people she is a credible european leader. Her purposes haven’t changed, she’s still the same Mussolini follower, but she needs to convince other european countries she is not dangerous for them, so she can do whatever she wants internally. European leaders are those who killed the career of Berlusconi, the previous right wing important PM. Merkel and sarkozy literally had him step down. She doesn’t want to ends up in the same way.

2014 was like a different planet. Should we all have gone to war with Russia then? Maybe. I doubt there’s a very good answer. It would certainly be different.
Consolidated sanctions could have prevented the war. And they should have started even earlier, when Russia occupied a part of Georgia. Or when Russia killed 300.000 people in Chechnya.
