            IRC is based. I hate that so many games these days only use discord. Such a bloated pile of shit when so many only use it to send messages.

        Just wait until the rich realize they can just pay the government to immediately shut off all services that compete with them by then, at least in the States if nothing happens to stop them by then.

            Something only exists until it’s banned. If we get to the point where they ban alternatives, I guarantee they’ll start going after self-hosting next. Profit line must always go up, as they’d say.

              Oh they banned lemmy. Let me run limmy then, which is a suspiciously identical fork to lemmy. Also other countries exist so unless they want to go full on China good luck enforcing it if its hosted outside the US. If they do go full on China I can stop caring about the US as they become irrelevant to my internet experience.
