We have been told we have to use copilot at work and they made up a bunch of bullshit reasons to use it. Most were just reasons not to use ChatGPT. I locally host my own LLMs but don’t use them that often.

UK here and I was unemployed/irregularly employed back around 2012-2014. The requirement was like 10 applications a week.
I used a web plugin that automated it. Just one click applies. You also need to log each thing you do to search for a job. It is trivial to lie. Honestly the system is so awful I think it actually makes it harder to find a job than having zero requirements beyond being unemployed. Not like it’s enough money to live off anyway, it would comfortably cover food and water, but that is all.
Then they made me work full time at Argos (retail) to continue getting welfare payments which works out to less than a quarter of minimum wage.
Good advice for anyone interested in fighting fascism really.

But just look at that smile! Luigi clearly looks innocent.
Unique is probably the most important thing. Well, and not using “password123” of course. As long as its not easy to guess the main thing you want to avoid is password reuse because you don’t know how securely its being stored. May well get leaked as plaintext some day which some of mine certainly have been over time.
That is when I learnt that no, a “very secure” password that you use everywhere isn’t very secure at all.
Upside to that is it ensures the billionaires can’t escape and are stuck here with the rest of us who are getting increasingly angry.
This is why you dispose of it properly rather than leaving it in a hedge somewhere.
Believing you are, not just telling everyone that you are.

Korhakato Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft laying off about 6,000 people, or 3% of its workforceEnglish3·1 day agoThis is why I make sure I only train people to an incredibly low standard. Training isn’t actually listed in my job role anyway and it ensures job security.
Yes, training them better would be better for the company. I am aware of that, but here we are. Gotta think of myself, because they sure won’t.

The fossil fuel method of dealing with waste is to vent it into the atmosphere. Nuclear only does that when something goes very wrong, and even then it causes significantly fewer fatalities.
You could have a Chernobyl every single day and still kill fewer people than coal and oil.
Korhakato Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•The SteamOS era is imminent: Valve adds a new compatibility rating for games that’ll run on ‘any device that’s not a Steam Deck’English5·1 day agoHaving steam as a platform to advertise the steamdeck probably helps. Tens of millions of people being told about your product, people that are already using your platform as well.
But if it gets more people using Linux I am alright with that. Kinda want a steamdeck but also don’t really want to spend steamdeck money right.
Korhakato Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•The SteamOS era is imminent: Valve adds a new compatibility rating for games that’ll run on ‘any device that’s not a Steam Deck’English61·1 day agoThey do. Windows = computer. They want the cheapest computer they can get so they get the £199 one. Oh its incredibly slow. Oh but macs are supposed to be faster, but it costs more. So these people end up thinking that windows = cheap and slow, mac = expensive and fast.
Of course the reality is both are shit and they should use Linux. I have installed Linux for a few people and generally they love it. I think mostly because its saved them money.

The smaller the source code is the easier that is, I imagine a mod like this would take very little data. Would be extra funny if its so small it could be shared as a QR code. But probably not quite that small.
Oh you are thinking of plastic going into the food, normally hear people talk about bacteria growing on it.
I thought it was just a meme used for mocking people that think like that. Usually with overly ridiculous examples, a bit like an evolution of “its not gay if you are wearing socks” type of things. Essentially mocking people that feel insecure about their masculinity.
My little protest was that I would occasionally move items in their stock room at random so it didn’t match the database.
