Could have not happened at all but some of you decided you’d rather have fascism.

Imho, the US is a case study that a 2 party system can’t stop fachism, only slow it down like explodicle wrote.

I sincerly wish you all over there the best of luck that you come out of this the other way without irreperable damage and hopefully more wisdom for the future. Europe needed 2 world wars till things got better and now here too things are declining.

Just today the radio told me that our conservative party in Germany is now flirting with the outright faschist party and droping straight up racist comments and I can only hope that our multi party system punishes them for this. But I might stand corrected soon because there might just be too many awful or misled people on this world …

Sorry it diverged into a general depressed rant over the rise of faschism completly disconnected from tacticle vs non tacticle voting.

Thanks for that perspective. I do think it’s interesting that the rise of far right politics has actually been happening globally. Yes it’s particularly bad in the US since as you mention we are less well equipped to deal with it with our two party system. But it is happening everywhere. I think Russia has been doing a lot behind the scenes to destabilize not just the US but the entire Western world and with the internet, their psyops have been super effective.
