Hi guys. Basically as the title says I just saw the crazy expensive wokout apps subscription prices on PlayStore and decided to find free workout video programs solutions but couldn’t find anything with good quality so I asked you guys here. Where to find beginner strength and cardio programs for free?

Honestly nothing needs to be pirated really, you can find some great stuff on YouTube. Many of the programs are all the same stuff in different wrappings, so find a program you like and go for it.

For weight training, check out MidasMVMT (videos on YouTube, full programs on his website, all free).

For yoga/pilates, you may like Ashley Freeman and Saturno Movement.

If you want to keep them for your local media server, yt-dlp and off to the races. You’ll also find some weightlifting, cardio, and general fitness communities here on Lemmy with great information as well.

I’m not quite sure what kind of videos you want specifically, but I would recommend stronglifts 5x5 for beginner strength and couch to 5k for a beginner cardio program

If you follow these programs for a few weeks, it should give you a great baseline to build from. If you have a new years resolution to get into shape, following these will smash that goal (Though you may want to choose to only follow one at a time and then transition to the other)

I haven’t used them in a while but Fitness blender has a good selection. You can pick options on their website - cardio/hiit/low impact etc. to find what you need. No over excitable workout leaders, nice and clear, straight forward vids to watch.

They used to be free, but looks like they have a large pay section now, with some free vids still there. They were all previously on YT too so look there as well if you like the style.

LeanBeefPatty on YouTube has some great stuff, and it’s been reviewed by sports medicine experts, who have said she does an excellent job with demonstrating good technique and giving good explanations.

You‘re gonna hate me, but ChatGPT (any LLM tbh) is perfect for a generic start. Once you get the hang of it, it sucks, but until then it’s good.

~10 years ago I was able to pirate P90X and Insanity workout videos (I think on piratebay); they must be out there somewhere

I bought the Runtastic six pack abs trainer and butt trainer (one time $5 fee for each app) several years ago and have gone through each program a number of times with excellent results. Especially considering the workouts were only about 10-15 minutes each (so 30 minutes to do one of each). These apps have been discontinued for new downloads but I bet you could fine similar apps for free or cheap that don’t require subscriptions.
