    just hype from urban vegan.

What about fighting waste like :

    • unsold stuff going to “the grinder”
    • packaging and paper ads
    • unnecessary building destruction/reconstruction
    • cars (yes indeed)

The anti-car movement isn’t just about environmental/‘green’ issues. That’s a significant part, but far from the whole purpose. It has profound impacts on general health of a community, quality of life, cost of living, preventable deaths, economic productivity and more beyond green issues (including various pollutions, wildlife death and unnecessary production).

Dismissing anti-car sentiment because ‘what about this other problem’ is silly: both are important, and they are not mutually exclusive!

It is not silly and not “whataboutism”

I agree except that you are not attacking the cause. WTF are they producing SUV ? Automotive is a business.

Personally, I don’t drive for pleasure, i pretty hate it. I drive because I can’t get a freaking job in my area even though being educated and experienced but refusing lower pay based on my color - I know the rates! The whiteasses here prefer paying indian sweatshop even though they don’t deliver.

If commute was reasonable, I would trade my car without hesitation!

that (everything being too far to not drive) is the exact reason why probably everyone else in this community drives a car, and walkable infrastructure is the main thing it promotes. no one here is saying we should stop making cars and change nothing, instead that we should change things so that cars aren’t necessary anymore
