The sale of disposable vapes is set to be banned under proposals going to Cabinet.

The Minister for Health is expected to get Government approval to draft these laws which will ban the sale, manufacture or import of single-use or disposable vapes in Ireland.

Stephen Donnelly plans to introduce this ban on environmental and public health grounds.

Should be banned everywhere smh. It’s crazy that people are just chucking lithium into the garbage for no reason…when vapes started as an easily reusable setup in the firth place.

I remember in the beginning using flashlight batteries, rebuildable atomizers and local house made juices. Im off the nicotine totally now but the scenes changed so much since then, not in the greatest of ways either.

Gov’ts in my area keep ranting about how many kids are vaping, forgetting that they set it up that way by banning RTAs/RDAs and only selling disposables.

How dumb must you be to do that, and throw your hands in the air while yelling “We don’t understand why!”

Disposable vapes have to be a thousand times worse than k-cups.

I was floored when one of my coworkers was showing off his vape that played games and stuff and said he went through one a week.

Part of why I’m collecting up whatever ones I find to use for my small electronics projects… Even saw someone recently use about 50 or so to make a nice battery bank (was posted here to Lemmy)

I’ve been using them as the overnight batteries for solar powered projects (like wled controlled lights). I’ll be happy to get batteries elsewhere instead and reduce the massive waste.

Have fun with that but please be careful with them. Lithium battery fires are no joke. I would suggest a secure steel lock box to store away when not in use. Or keep it out of the house.

Lithium fires are fast, aggressive and impossible to properly extinguish. Once started they are self propagating and can only be doused until it’s essentially exhausted.

I’ve collected an assortment of them as well. I’ve got those batteries in several projects so far.

I buy disposable vapes occasionally because my reusable one uses pure crystallized THC and it’s giving me a bad cough

I have about a dozen RTAs and when one starts burning my throat it gets torn down, coils heated to burn off the accumulated crap, screens and o-rings removed and cleaned/dried, and new cotton put into it.

I also still have a roll or two of wire for when I’m going to eventually run out of pre-made coils.

Take care of your mod and it will take care of you.

Giving it a once over with a soapey sponge to get the gunk from what you just made off while it’s still hot is fair game.

Make sure to rinse/dry it immediately, put it back on the burner while its still hot. Rub in a small amount of olive oil into the surface w/ a paper towel while still warm on the burner, then let them cool together.

I’m garbage at cooking, but that’s how ma taught me to take care of them, and shes very much not garbage at cooking.
