Finland sacrificing its neutrality to try and join NATO was a phenomenally idiotic move.

    Apparently, enough signifiance to cause the moving of Russian nukes to the Finnish border …

      Of course Russia will respond to such a provocation. However, that doesn’t mean that the situation has fundamentally changed. Had Russia attacked Sweden or Finland in the past, the response from NATO would’ve been exactly the same as it would be had they been accepted.

        I think that’s less than certain. Who’s to say that NATO’s response wouldn’t be closer to the Ukraine war, keeping a strong thumb on the scale while avoiding escalations that might lead to Russia launching nukes? I don’t think anything less than a treaty obligation would pull NATO in.
