On the train last night some guy kept sneezing next to me without covering his mouth and now I’m sick.

I went to the office and let my manager know and she said to go home. Which was really nice.

Teams meetings all day tomorrow anyway, just didn’t want to be away from work. The difference between sectors is dramatic.

I got up and walked away from someone on the ferry who kept coughing wetly. I can only hope she was recovering from something, but I was not taking the risk.

I’m still piiiiiiiiised about when my expensive trip to Mildura was ruined by some lady who was coughing all weekend. I think I ended up with a combination of food poisoning and the cold while stranded hundreds of KMs from home in almost the middle of nowhere.

        sick

Throwing up into a rubbish bag on a bus is not good. Fucking horrendous experience.

I still see far too much of this in public, and it makes me mad, especially as someone who hasn’t been able to work for the past week from covid. Some people either learnt nothing from the last few years or simply don’t give a damn and it shows.

Fkn ferals! Crawling all over the trains and trams, coughing and snuffling, wiping their faces with their hands and smearing it everywhere like angry monkeys throwing their shit.

Why don’t the Geneva Conventions on Biological Warfare extend to the common disease-ridden citizen?

Don’t even get me started on buses.

Rejected for a job because I was basically too good (?), but they’ve invited me to apply for a more senior role coming up next month. Not really sure what to do with this information.

at which point they’ll tell you that you don’t have enough experience for the senior role. Why? Cause they’re fuckers.

      Least thats my experience.

The more senior role is very similar to my last job, but yep, every chance there’ll be another amazing candidate so I’m certainly not holding my breath.

I care so little for US politics and I am already tired of hearing about that train wreck, despite actively avoiding it. I can’t escape it I figured it must be close to the election so I googled it.

We got another 3 months of this.

I was absolutely here prior to “the change” and now I’m all here for it. It went from “good guys gonna get smashed” to “Holy shit good guys are gonna win and bad guys gonna get their asses kicked”. Love a come from behind story.

I wish Americans would stop this whole superiority complex thing they have, and acting like everybody needs to know about it

Chief. Your country is falling apart, basically a 3rd world country with rich white people, and you literally had Trump as president. Nobody else gives a fuck about who wins your shitty little race race. Your country is beyond repair either way. Also, US politics aren’t the default politics, and the US isn’t the default country 🤷‍♂️

Miniest testing negative for covid 💪🏼 my test still very faintly positive. Mr P’s test still strongly positive and he is spewin’ about it. The first to get it and spread it to us is still positive, he really thought he’d be in the clear by now. But he’s the oldest and a smoker, which I think must be a factor in his slow recovery? Ran out of tests so will have to test Elder when the ones I ordered arrive this arvo.

Edit: Elder minipeeler has tested negative! I’m sooo relieved!

There was some silly article years ago about how being a smoker (tobacco or weed) could help against covid.

I called bullshit and I’m pretty sure it’s been disproven too lol. Guarantee you his smoking is prolly why it’s harder for him to get over it (as a flip-flopping quitter)

Given Mr Peeler kept walking through the living room for a ciggie, in this case it sounds like it wasn’t the smoker who got sicker — it was everyone else!

Anyways, fantastic news that you’re all starting to recover 😊

s2g if they wanted to fix the state deficit, put fucking ticket cops on chesterville road. The number of defects and speeding fines would buy us a whole new rail system.

I did a 5 year stint in st Albans, and it was always funny seeing how many people would run the red light, or speed, along Taylor’s Rd, particularly at the Arthur Street intersection. Never really saw cops around much either. I liked to tell people who’d never been to st Albans before that it was because the last time cops tried to park up and fine people, the kids in the area through rocks at their windows, and then we all teamed up and tipped their cop car over. I think the more depressing reality is that there were probably only 5 cops at Keilor Downs police station, and most of them were preoccupied with domestic violence calls, and the resulting paperwork. Ironically Taylor’s Rd is the nicer end of town, too

Shout out to my goodest girl: the Staffy X Kelpie. I’m trying a new walking technique to reduce the pulling cause its all gotten a bit shit since kiddo joined us. She was always the better of the 2 dogs but with the new technique she had it dialed in within like 5 minutes. She was a nightmare on a lead when we got her so to see the progress she has made was just been awesome.

The other dog we wont be talking about here.

I’ve caught the today-is-dragging-itis bug. Far out I’m soooo done for the day. Bleurgh. I have to do a stupid employee goals thing too. urrrghghvbggvbfgj

Also really sleepy as I was up late helping a mate with their job application. It was actually my dream job, but I’m not in a position to have such a big change right now… and I think this person is a better candidate anyway. Certainly makes me think of where I could be in the future though

Oh man, employee goals crap is the worst. I used to take them seriously, but after a decade at my current employer they’ve proven that they’re not worth a damn. NOBODY here takes them seriously any more, even my manager acknowledges it’s all worthless and any goals or aspirations or training plans or targets will be ignored by the powers that be anyway. It’s just a box ticking exercise here.

Also, what a great friend you are to have that kind of attitude and put that effort in helping someone get YOUR dream job! I just hope you don’t sell yourself short, make sure you shoot for something similar when the timing IS right!

Now I believe it’s time to will this clock into turning faster so that I can go home…

Lol, turns out even my supervisor has no idea there were these employee goal things so it really is a total box ticking exercise…

Aw thanks, that’s really nice of you re: job. It’s just been bad timing that this job was advertised when it was. I absolutely can’t sacrifice my last shot at finishing this degree (would need to start redoing subjects otherwise) and I know I simply can’t handle the chaos of transitioning jobs moving forward. I like that my existing jobs are somewhat braindead which leaves me more space to work with uni, life, etc. Whereas I’d be burning the candle at both ends wanting to put in 110% at the job while also finishing uni. I also needed some down time professionally after my last job.

I’ll definitely be putting in for jobs like that once I wrap up uni mid next year!
