Please explain to me how a president stepping down is anti democratic? I’m guessing you’re not American and don’t understand how our elections work. Either way, don’t comment on something you have no knowledge of because you look incredibly stupid right now.

I think even the most clueless non American can figure out that someone deciding that they don’t want to do a public office before the election of that public office is hardly undemocratic and while I am not clueless, I am a non American and live with non Americans. I think I can guessimate that.

Have you seen this person’s post history?
You are wasting your time, no truth nor reason can penetrate that stone, it’s all frenetic narratives (like - “Jan 6 was a hoax”) that never bother to pause and look at themselves, nor will they ever, as there is zero will to do that.

See when you’re a brainwashed maga idiot, the truth doesn’t ever matter and you can make up your own bullshit every day. Must be amazing living in the mind of a brainwashed cult member.

The issue is suddenly getting Kamala as a candidate instead of properly choosing one

I don’t know did you see the post today by that Dutch meddler about Harris having blood on her hands? Seems like he’s working a lot harder than these other guys.

Those other ones might be paid/bots. This one appears to be just someone caught up in the misinformation/hard right fucker. Here’s another comment he made just an hour ago:

And his profile has quite few random right-wing blurbs:

But Trump doesn’t want to run against her. Democracy is what the people want. Trump is one of those people, ergo anything Trump doesn’t like is anti-democratic.

      QED.

      Take that, atheists!

Does lemmy need /s tags or are there people with brains on here? Asking for a friend.

There are a lot of neurodivergent folks here so, I’d definitely recommend it. Not that we can’t understand sarcasm or nuance but, certainly raises the risk of misinterpretation.

So if Trump’s assassination attempt were successful, the RNC would have to run a corpse? The voters wanted that corpse to run.

The DNC and RNC not having real primary races was the problematic ignoring of voter wishes. Biden exiting the race is just a byproduct of earlier mistakes.

Which is the electorates fault for not forcing the issue. Granted it was difficult since Joe had done a lot of good in his presidency. If Isreal started its assault maybe 4 months earlier we might have had something. Personally, I would have liked to have had primaries based on how close 2020 was and shouldn’t have been.

Moving forward we should make it known that Kamala should fully expect a challenger if she wins the presidency. It would only strengthen the cause but we can’t sit on it.

You managed to Mr. Magoo your way to an accurate conclusion (the parties do not operate by simple democracy), but the rest is an obvious troll. I feel like it’s Russian, but I could be wrong.

To anyone else reading this: Since Biden withdrew, there is now an opening on the ticket. Much like when there’s an opening in a political office (e.g. vice president, senator, etc) without a clear and direct successor, a replacement will be named. A new VP is selected by the sitting president, senators usually by the state’s governor, etc. Often they must be confirmed, but they are not chosen by democracy.

Change a few titles, and their selection methodology, and you have the DNC/RNC.

This actually isn’t true. When you vote in the primary you aren’t actually voting for a candidate, you are voting for a slate of electors. Biden won the primaries and his slate of electors would have been seated at the convention. The electors remain the same, they have just decided, with Biden’s endorsement, to vote for Harris. Nothing has changed about how democratic the process is or would have otherwise been.

I know you are correct. But this doesn’t sound like ‘democracy is on the ballot’, which is what they say every year. And of course ‘this is the most important election of my lifetime’… Bunch of bull.

I don’t know, because of 2016 a lot of rights got stripped away by right wing justices. Their rulings will have a lasting impact. Roe is in the news, but overturning Chevron deference is absolutely huge.

Project 2025 overturning civil service reform and returning to patronage would be terrible, not to mention Christian nationalism.

The people who want to do evil shit don’t take elections off, so if you care about anything at all, you shouldn’t either. I don’t know why it’s so difficult for people to just vote.

What I find the most irritating tbh is that Jim Halpert (or John Krasinski for that matter) would be completely against this crap and would never say such a thing.

Lol conservative trolls did a quick jump from bashing the DNC and democrats for forcing us to have to vote for “Genocide Joe” to some bizarre take on Biden stepping down and Harris being the heir apparent to the nomination being the result of some other evil facet of democracy.
