    • Brush: The Goodfellas’ Smile “The Hog” (three years old)
    • Razor: Henson V1 Mild Jet Black (two years old)
    • Blade: Lord Platinum
    • Lather: Cheap, local unscented tallow soap
    • Post Shave: Nivea Sensitive Balm

Average shave, had a few bumps as per usual. Around five days’ worth of growth which for me results in a thick beard. But my Henson made easy work of it as I tweak it by loosening the handle 1/4 turns to make it from a Mild into a Medium. Cuts down the stubble no problem. For the second pass, I tighten the handle to “factory settings” so I get a milder shave for touch-ups.

The brush I’ve had for three years, I got it when I started wet shaving. It’s been holding up real good (no shedding etc). I’ve ordered a Yaqi Timberwolf synthetic as an upgrade and a Simpson Bay Rum soap to go with it (I do have other soaps beside the tallow as well, Prorasos being among my favourites).

That was clever to figure out a way to turn the Henson into an adjustable razor :) I’ve never used one, but its design makes me think it would clog easily with 5 days growth.

The “tweak”: I read about it on the forums, I don’t remember which one. People realized they could use shims to make the razor more aggressive, and not long after someone figured out that they could loosen the handle to the same end without negatively affecting how the razor handled. And no, it doesn’t really clog, it usually gets the area I’m targeting with one stroke (YMMV as they say tho). And it flushes out really well, too. Nothing in there when I disassemble to let it dry.

A quick morning shave, with the wake-up soap, while waiting for the rain to go away. Really nice!

    Have a good day!

    • Brush: Wald Nimbus Bloodline 27mm J3

    • Razor: Hart Steel 6/8 Quarter Hollow

    • Lather: Wholly Kaw - Entropy Man - Soap

    • Toner: Thayers - Rose - Toner

    • Aftershave: Wholly Kaw - Entropy Man - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

    Awesome scent! Shaving with this soap brings the disorder of my beard to a state of equilibrium. Boltzman++;

This razor belongs to u/TheBunnynator1001 and this was a test shave. The shave was so good and so close that I think the edge is probably too sharp for most people. I’m going to “take the edge off” the edge, and increase the comfort so that under more shaving pressure the edge won’t feel harsh.

    Oh, Tea

    • Brush: Zenith 506 N XS (extra soft horse)
    • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels 14 (8/8", extra hollow ground, carbon steel)
    • Lather: Noble Otter – 茉莉綠茶
    • Post Shave: Gentleman’s Nod – Musahi
    • Fragrance: Giorgio Armani – Thé Yulong

I didn’t take the time to hone my new-to-me and freshly delivered $FriodomRiders and $HoneMeisterschaft razor yesterday, so I went with the closest thing I have shave-ready.

The chonky 14 is super gentle, with crisp, crackling audio feedback like an old-timey carbon microphone.

The extra soft horse is a slow latherer, which I’ve come to really appreciate: it barely produces frothy bubbles, no matter how wet the knot.

Delicious combination of tea scents today! Musahi is new to me, and I was surprised by the synthetic cooling agent (Mini pet peeve: I wish artisans would stop putting cooling agents in splashes. It really only makes sense in very few, very specific summer scents to me), but the scent is nice. Topped it off with Thé Yulong, a gift from my wife.

I have the same pet peeve. I like to match the aftershave and soap scents but hesitate if the aftershave has a cooling agent. This will prevent me from using a HoM soap and splash pairing for AA.

Because I’ve earned the right to be a grumpy old man, I’ll say that if you want a cooling aftershave, just use Aqua Velva! 😠
