    • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts “Santa Noir” w/Maggard 28mm SHD Badger
    • Razor: GEM Pushbutton
    • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (2)
    • Lather: Chatillon Lux/Storybook Soap Works - La Forêt de Liguist - Soap
    • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Delor de Treget - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Spearhead - Seaforth! Heather - EdP

This combo really came together nicely. La Forêt de Liguist is a really interesting scent. Dry forest smells, almost musty, but brightened up a tad by something. Delor de Treget is more of a citrus type scent, but along the same vein. Proceeding to get even brighter, Heather topped it all off with a big burst of clary sage.

The pushbutton was really nice. Slightly milder than the MMOC, but just as efficient and fun to use. Mechanically it’s not nearly as interesting as the MMOC, but it’s still sort of cool in that department.

    • Brush: AP Shave Co. - 24mm Synbad Fan
    • Razor: MMOC Gen 2
    • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (1)
    • Lather: Barrister & Mann/Zingari Man - Nocturne - Soap
    • Post Shave: Aqua Velva - Ice Blue - Aftershave

I shaved last night so I could head out the door early this morning. I wanted a super close shave that’ll last me until late afternoon, and the MMOC did a great job.

I was also inspired by @DaveWave94 (sorry, tagging is a missing feature in Jerboa), but had better luck than him with a fresh PTFE blade. I’ve definitely had rough first shaves, but as I gain experience I’m starting to blame it on technique.

    • Brush: AP Shave Co. - 24mm Synbad Fan
    • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
    • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (Egypt) (8)
    • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Roam Two - Soap
    • Post Shave: Old Spice - Hawkridge - Aftershave

Only 2 passes because I’ll have to shave again later today (or maybe wake up really early tomorrow morning) for work. I prefer 3 passes :)

This blade is exceeding my expectations. I don’t know why, but I just assumed moving manufacturing from Germany to Egypt would result in a worse blade. They’re slightly different based on my earlier side-by-side testing, but the new ones are worthy of my support.

Roam Two++ is very different from OG Roam, but it’s a fantastic scent.

  • There are two types, CMR and SMR. You can read online about the differences. CMR is better because SMR tries to be all fancy in order to increase capacity, but at the cost of speed and data integrity.

It won’t be front and center in the specs of a particular drive, but you usually find the info somewhere.

I wouldn’t worry about higher capacity failing sooner. If you have 10x4TB vs 2x20TB, that’s 5x as many drives to go bad. So a 20TB drive would need a 5x worse fail rate to be considered worse. A pro of larger (fewer) drives is lower power consumption. 5-10 watts per drive doesn’t sound like much, but it adds up.

    • Brush: Maggard 24mm Tuxedo Synthetic
    • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
    • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (Egypt) (7)
    • Lather: MacDuff’s Soap Company - Old Strathcona - Soap
    • Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Petrichor - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: allMan - Refined - Balm
    • Fragrance: Barrister & Mann - Lavanille - EdP

Good stuff. I wanted to revisit the MacDuff’s base after the BVWSC (or is it BVWSSC?) event, during which I had a bit of a rough shave. At the time I blamed it on the blade, and I was right! This shave was much better. Easy to lather, works great, smells great.

  • Speak of the devil, I just went RC flying for the first time in over 3 months today. I was the only one at the field because it was a bit windy. I had 3 great flights which proved my time on the simulator is working 1000%.

There’s always time if you plan ahead. He has daycare 3 days a week, takes naps every day for 2-3 hours, goes to bed early, etc. So really it just comes down to thrill. Will I enjoy it? Am I in the right headspace to learn a new skill, or do I want to bask in the glory of what I already know?
