I love my PS5 but I haaaate the way it looks so I’d like to be able to take the guts and fan out of it and pop it in to a simple, elegant, 3D printed case…do these exist?

Failing that I would be happy to build one out of wood if there were some kind of template for the ports etc…has anyone done this? Do you have a link to pics of your project?

There must be something that can be done to make the PS5 less offensive to look at, I’ve tried but even so, my attempts are not enough to make me hate it less, I’ve attached a pic of what mine looks like now (except I’ve rounded off the popped colar now, this is an older pic) hope it works.

I’ve seen the DIY Perks project and that’s nice and all but it’s a bit ‘CEOs office’ for my liking.

As for my PS5, I have an orange LED behind the PS logo and I attached EL wire along the sides of the front panel that lights up orange to match the paint job, these were wired to the USB power on the inside so I had to disable USB power in rest mode so that they turn off when not in use.

I don’t even have a PS5 and I read the whole thing haha. The options are pretty nice too, definitely improves the look of that thing.

Looks like you’ve just painted yours, the dark plates are differently shaped than the originals. They hug closer to the profile of the main body, instead of having those big Batman ears.

That is an older pic, I cut the Batman ears off with a Dremmel and sanded them down to look very similar to the Dbrand ones but not quite as fitted a look. I like the Dbrand ones but I don’t want to pay nearly £100 for some plates.

          Here’s a quick pic of it now…

I’m sure you could make one. Take an existing shell, measure the mounting holes, port hikes, etc., model those, then design your own aesthetic on top of that.

I was going to cheat a bit and just take the inside black shell and somehow squeeze it in to a small floating shelf drawer I have but I don’t have the tools I’d need to make a good job of making holes for the ports and I’m not sure how well the Bluetooth would work if it was completely covered like that (I’m sure it would be fine) and airflow would be taken care of by a tiny Noctua fan I have knocking around.

with how tall and wide the ps5 is its probably not doable on most 3d printers. but there are commercial services that might print it for you.

That was the idea, I don’t have a printer but I’d pay to have it done, I’m not particularly handy so I wouldn’t have much confidence in building something myself what with it needing to be very accurate to line up all the ports

Your best bet would be to hope sony releases a new and better-looking ps5 slim somewhere down the road

They should have just stuck with a more traditional design, I like the Xbox S, hell even the X is better with its refrigerator design lol

My PS5 sits behind my 65" television. The only time I see it is when I’m slotting or removing a disc.

Actually, that’s a lie, I saw it when I installed my new WD_Black 2TB ssd.
