Hello! I recently upgraded my laptop with 500 gb of storage but it’s on another disk from where I have installed linux. How can I expand my linux root partition when linux is installed on another disk and I am also dual booting with windows? I am using linux mint.

    You could functionally accomplish something like this by setting the second drive as your /home partition. An advantage of this is that you can preserve your user files even if you end up wiping and reinstalling your OS, since your home directory would be on a totally different drive.

    Assuming you are using logical volumes, you’d want to create a partition, create a physical volume on it, add that to the existing volume group, and extend the the root lv.

    It’s been a while since I installed Mint, but logical volumes are probably the installer default. Here is a blog post I found talking about this.
