A build of Microsoft's upcoming next version of Windows, now confirmed to be Windows 11, has leaked onto the web just days before the company is expected to unveil the next generation of Windows at a dedicated event. The leak has confirmed that the "Windows 11" branding is accurate, and has revealed Microsoft's brand new desktop UI along with other changes and enhancements to the OS.
“The Final Windows” was said by one developer evangelist in 2015. It referred to how 10 was developed simultaneously with 8.1 in their own branches. Microsoft later officially said how 10 will be the last Windows sold as a separate version, and from now on all Windows development would be happen in one main line with no separate branches.
The model will likely be similar to regularly updated web browsers: Microsoft can release Windows 11 and 12, but the user doesn’t have to care about the version number as long as he is using “just Windows”.
10 will also reach its end of support anyways in 2025, which is listed in the official support documentation.

Linux works the same way with rolling releases, you use any distro which at some point will get a major update and it will be called [Distro Name] [Number/Nick].
