I’m exaggerating a lot here lol

There is a lot of really bad political takes on Lemmy. But I’m unsure if it has anything to do with Lemmy and that it’s just the effect of having people argue on the internet.

The most extreme and loud voices will always dominate on the internet it seems. And most normal people will have more important stuff to do than argue with people on the internet.

It doesn’t help with some of the developers of Lemmy also are pushing pretty extraordinary stuff.

But I’ve never really used Reddit or anything similar so I just have to acclimate. Although I’m curious if I’m in the minority of feeling this when following political stuff on Lemmy.

Fair correction, but I find it hard to believe far right “free speech” types would use tech made by communists

Technology (usually) knows no ideologic bounds. The Kalachnikov is quite symbolic in how it was used by theistic groups while it was developed by antitheistic Soviets.

Maybe in the case of “Jewish science” and the Nazis, or genetic manipulation of plants and Lyshenkoism there was ideologic resistance to science and technology.
