peachfront@toot.communityOPtoPhotography@fedia.io•For an animal that doesn't move much, sloths can be hard to photograph in a way that results in a photo worth looking at. However, on the last day of our workshop, we found this mother and baby, and2·2 days agohere is a less cropped version of the same mother and child photo i just posted-- the tree branch they’re using was hanging out over the road –
from what i’ve seen, sloths often “hang around” near roads or human structures but maybe there are just a lot of sloths and the easy “low hanging” fruit are the ones we tend to notice & photograph…

peachfront@toot.communitytoPhotography@fedia.io•so happy today to see so many insects in particular, Butterflies and Dragonflies. Hopefully we will see a recovery this year as last year numbers were poor1·3 days agoi do use the 1.4 TC … but since i’m slower than average, it also provides me the option of removing it & going back to 400mm to give me a little more light/speed
if that makes sense… ?

Hopefully we will see a recovery this year as last year numbers were poor1·3 days agoi’m sticking with the 400mm for now because i am a pretty small person but i’ve heard it said many times that 600mm is the most-used prime lens for wildlife because of its versatility

peachfront@toot.communityOPtoPhotography@fedia.io•there's a stadium directly below this balcony to provide view of the games2·5 days agooh, i have a nice surprise for you, here’s my view of the stadium
will admit i have no clue what hotel rates would be on game day tho… and you’d better bring your spotting scope! 🤣

peachfront@toot.communityOPtoPhotography@fedia.io•there's a stadium directly below this balcony to provide view of the games2·5 days agoyou’re not the weird one, but if it was a security measure, it’s one that was easily bypassed since the balconies in the rooms had no barriers… in fact, i set up a tripod on my balcony for some night photography – (then the fog rolled in but that’s another story)

peachfront@toot.communityto birding@lemmy.world•Little idiots been trapped in our warehouse since yesterday, waiting for him to tire from hunger then possibly feed and release3·27 days agoShe doesn’t look like she’s starving, House Sparrows have been living in warehouses & even the Detroit airport for years
If there’s a food & water source, you may have Sparrows for good
i would not expect her to take Pop Tarts from the hand ??? but her calmness to your approach suggests to me that somebody’s been feeding her (maybe on the sly)-- probably they drop the crumbs for her to pick up instead of trying to hand feed her tho
(males have gray crown & black bib)
