The only thing I have found useful about Ai is it’s ability to quickly fill in documents with slop to make it seem like I spent more time and effort on it. Usually something like, I put it together with major points and frame work, then give to Ai to slop it up and format it. Then proof it and send it out. It’s also good for note taking and transcripts.

Other than that it seems like it’s just another form of control because now it can search data and make decisions quickly and cheaply now. This means that things that weren’t worth making time for in the past can just be given to Ai to track. In fact my company is playing around with using Ai to track our progress on projects so that the PMs don’t have to interact with engineers directly. I would also bet that it will be used to assess performance in future annual performance reviews.

Companies are also hoping to get rid of employees that perform those menial tasks that support staff do and get rid of employees that do tasks that they believe don’t require specialized skills or talents.

You could never really build a better PC for the same price, consoles were always $300 to $400 cheaper than the equivalent PC at launch by design. Pre gen4 consoles really had to compete with Arcades and gen4 to gen 6 really only had to compete with each other. Gen 6 and after now have strong competition from PC and mobile.

PC suffered from a lack of eco system, cost, and complexity. Consoles were sold at a loss at launch because the software was tied to the proprietary hardware and they could make their money back by offering exclusive games and pay to play online.

Now consoles are just under powered custom PCs and Steam/GOG have built eco systems for PC to make PC gaming more friendly and now Steam is building hardware to make PC gaming more affordable. Plus with cloud gaming everyone can stream just about any game no matter what hardware they have.

Nintendo will probably hang on the longest with their unique hardware and IPs that will never ever get ported to another system, at least not until Nintendo no longer builds their own hardware.

AI and Cloud gaming will probably be the biggest thing to revolutionize the gaming industry and probably the most destructive since Atari over saturated the market. At least in the short term.

How about he ask AI how to fix it’s own problems. We created an infrastructure for us humans so he can go kick rocks and figure his own problems instead of expecting us to do it.

So Sony said something similar about milking it’s current customer base more by charging more for services/software and not really offering anything new in return. Console gaming maybe dead or at least the next generation will most likely be the last.

I don’t see consoles surviving for much long with so many things working against them like AI, cloud services, mobile offerings, PC alternatives, and increasing hardware costs.

Also if AI can predict what I’m going to do and do it for me then what if that’s not what I was going to do. It would suck the joy out of actually doing the things. Single player games probably don’t matter as much but feel like it would ruin PVP like overly aggressive aim assist.

TLDR-

North Korea sends troops to Ukraine to fight/die for Russia. Tells them that if they are captured then they must commit suicide or be labeled a traitor. Some soldiers fail to properly kill themselves and are captured.

The question now is what to do with them. If they return them to NK then they will probably be tortured and executed, if they grant them asylum in Ukraine or South Korea then NK may use that as an excuse to increase hostility. Geneva convention requires that they return them to NK.

I always send meeting minutes so I can remember what we talked about and to prove that expectations were clearly communicated or an email to prove that I communicated that there’s a serious issue and forces someone to acknowledge it.

Blue collar (blue coveralls class) is just a derogatory term to describe someone that doesn’t wear a white collar (business suit class) to work. But it sorta turned into a badge of honor by the blue collar class over the years, but it’s meant to be an insult by the white color class.

It has nothing to do with skilled or non-skilled labor or education, it’s supposed to be an insult based on the clothes required to wear to work.

Yeah you’d probably have a bad day in America too. I think the person asking the question just doesn’t know what blue collar or skilled labor means.

But does it require skill to do the job or does skill just make a person better at the job?

A plumber can’t be a plumber without years of training and experience. There is no apprentice dishwasher or master dishwasher, just about anyone with two hands and willing to stand in one place for hours can do the job. I washed dishes at a fast food deli for three months for a summer job in highschool. It’s thankless hard work but it was mindless work and required no skill, I washed dishes zoned out and on autopilot most of the time. I’m sure there are skilled dishwashers that can was them the fastest or cleanest, but washing dishes doesn’t require skill, it requires work ethic, it requires completing the task of washing the dishes. There’s no 100 other tasks required to do or learn before becoming a dishwasher.

If any functioning human can walk in and do the job then it’s not “skilled” labor. Having a good work ethic doesn’t equal skilled labor.

“Skilled” labor is someone that spent years honing their craft and making a complicated “job” look like a simple effortless task because they spent years learning how to do it and perfecting it, hours of prep and planning. That’s is “skilled” labor.

True and I’ve thought about it, but it’s nice when these things are built into the design of the vehicle and isn’t just tacked on. It gives a since that it’s meant to be there.

Little addictions.

Addiction is a real problem and incredibly hard to diagnose. I’m not talking about drugs, I’m talking about those little additions that subtly sublimely control nearly every decision in your life. Addiction to caffeine, sugar, social media, TV, driving too fast, being an asshole, being a complainer, etc.

There’s a lot of reasons why we do what we do or why we think we do them but for the most part it’s about chasing those bits of dopamine. But chasing them can lead to some very destructive behaviors.
