Docker is not a virtual machine, it’s a fancy wrapper around chroot

anachrohack@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How are Americans preparing for the Trumpist supply shock?3·9 hours agoDuring covid, having like 2 months’ worth of food was enough for me. I was able to avoid the chaos at the grocery stores, and by May of 2020, instacart had cleared up enough that I could get food delivered to me.
This is different, obviously, but having 2 months of food to avoid the initial chaos and supply shocks of a disaster is still valuable

Postal Employee: “May I help you?”
Kramer: “Yeah, I’d like to cancel my mail.”
Postal Employee: “Certainly. How long would you like us to hold it?”
Kramer: “Oh, no, no. I don’t think you get me. I want out, permanently.”

anachrohack@lemmy.worldto Data Breaches@lemmy.zip•Baltimore City Public Schools data breach affects over 31,000 peopleEnglish2·3 days agoI believe that if your organization is not set up to handle cybersecurity for 30,000 people, then you should not be allowed to store data on those people. I hate getting a letter in the mail from some health records company (that I’ve never interfaced directly with) telling me that my information was hacked. I never gave them any info directly, but they had it, and they lost it. There should be criminal consequences for these incidents, not just fines.

anachrohack@lemmy.worldto Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Ah yes, Because That Is What Makes a Good Logo37·6 days agoI feel that you’re making the argument that we should compromise on the humanism of prominent and uniquitous pieces of art so that we can print t-shirts more cheaply. You can of course make the same argument about the building costs of modern boxy paneled apartments and office buildings, but that still doesn’t make them any less unpleasant to look at.
I feel that graphics designers (or really, brand managers), over the last 30 or so years, have made daily decisions about the cost effectiveness of something at the expense of beauty, and we now live in the most bland, generic, and tasteless era in modern history. What does a graphic designer even do anymore, besides copying other graphic designers?
To be clear, AI is not the answer. But intuitively, a colored, shaded, 3 dimensional logo is more appealing to me than another flat, generic, 1 dimensional line illustration that says literally nothing about your brand identity.

You are wrong. North America is a continent, and South America is a continent. Of all the countries on these two continents, one is colloquially referred to as “America” by everyone who isn’t an internet weirdo. Absolutely nobody else in the western hemisphere refers to themselves as “America” or “Americans”
