_TheLoneDeveloper_to Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Serving my media library to my TV (local network only), i need suggestionsEnglish5·6 months agoI will agree, I got an Nvidia shield pro two years ago, I was a bit afraid because it’s a product from 2019, but damn it’s been rock solid, it plays everything, it’s quite open and not limited like some other boxes, it’s even faster than the most Samsung smart TVs that I have tried, I can’t recommend it enough, even at the end of 2024 it doesn’t have any issues when playing YouTube and Plex.
Stooped caring what other thought, started doing what I liked, took risks.
_TheLoneDeveloper_to Steam Deck•Whats the most efficient; Using a fully charged SD when plugged into a 20,000 mah battery bank, or depleting the SD battery then plugging into the bank to continue play?1·2 years agoWell actually no, the battery health is counted in charge circles, so if you charge from 0 to 100 it is one charge, if you charge from 50 to 100, then again from 50 to 100 it is again one charge.
Other than that when you use the battery and let daily to reach 0% it may be over discharged and start creating crystals damaging the battery, the battery would never actually be under 2-5%, but why stress that battery? I’m charging my devices at 20% and it helps with the battery life.
Also if you want long, healthy batteries you shouldn’t charge to 100 as not to overcharge but who does that?

_TheLoneDeveloper_to Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the biggest lesson that employment has taught you?1·2 years agoWell it depends, I had gotten offers double and triple my yearly pay to move to the capital or go outside of my country for a system engineer position. Devops pays more in the US, for around 20-30k MORE per year, but other salaries in the US and other salaries in EU.
Personally I like system engineer/architect jobs more, DevOps is nice but lacks creativity.
Why would you throw them away? It was to be fixed and some one could find a way to make it work.
_TheLoneDeveloper_to Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a scam that's so normalized that we don't even realize it's a scam anymore?21·2 years agoYou do that and then you start smelling like shit, no one would like to be near use, at least use natural shamboo, I had snowlly sculp, with a slightly chemical shamboo 2 times per week and with one natural for the rest of the days I’m fine now and smell like an exotic garden.
_TheLoneDeveloper_to Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the biggest lesson that employment has taught you?15·2 years agoI wanted to be a system engineer, I got hired as a devops, I started doing a bit of system engineer, called hr and said that I’m working on infrastructure and I need my title changed or else I won’t be able to continue my work, my title was changed, no I do system engineer stuff and less of devops, this was a very rare occasion but it can happen from time to time.

We first need to generate some content so new users will find information and enjoyment on Lemmy, otherwise there is no use for the platform, information got me on reddit in the first place, now information will keep me on Lemmy, I will try to generate some too.
_TheLoneDeveloper_to Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Lemmy is so good right now because there are no kids hereEnglish1·2 years agoIt was like Mastadon and twitter, once they meseed up they got replaced, and alternative services become popular.
Unfortunately reddit was the de facto place to find information and ask questing and be sure to find an answer, now the communities are actually split in half.
I really hope Lemmy will get better over time, we could create briedges like matrix for some popular sub*s
They sold 2 of these to Greece.
