That was in 2004. So yeah, it went well, as I’m still running Gentoo.

The installation went ok, but it took ages. I had Compaq Armada E500: Single core 900MHz Pentium III and 256MB of RAM. I had help from my friend who explained in detail what we were doing and why during the installation process.

Next time I needed to install Gentoo I did it by my self. I had the Gentoo Handbook open on other machine and I followed it carefully. I was surprised by how smoothly the install went.

Few weeks ago I once again installed Gentoo onto a new machine. 36-cores (two Xeons) and 256GB of RAM. It’s always funny to compare how much more powerful my newest machine is compared to my first Gentoo machine. ;)

Televisiot olis aika paljon kalliimpia ilman niitä mainoksia. Netflix, Amazon yms maksaa aika tolkuttoman summan TV valmistajalle siitä että heidän palveluunsa on jopa oma nappi kaukosäätimessä. Olikohan se nyt Hisense, joka on melkonen sellout ja katselin niiden yhtä kaukkaria, niin siinä taisi olla 12 sponsorinappulaa. 😂

Itellä on vuoden 2018-2019 Samppa. Kakess aon kolme sponsorinappulaa ja se kyllä lievästi kiristää, kun sellaseen osuu vahingossa ja päälle avautuu joku Amazon Prime, johon mulla ei ole tilausta. Löysin myöhemmin vnahemman TV mallin kaken tohon, josta puutuu noi sponssinappulat, ni nyt on vähän parempi taas olla.

Telkkari on kyllä netissä, koska Löytyy HBO ja Disney+ tilaukset. Mutta on kyllä tullut mietitty, jos vaan sulkis ne tilaukset ja pystyttäis minidlna:n johonki boxiin. Telkusta löytyy vakiona “ihan ok” dlna clientti.

Gentoo user here too. I once switched to systemd, but didn’t stay using it for too long. Back then some things didn’t work with systemd. Nowdays my systems use seatd instead of logind or elogind. Some have musl toolchain. It’s just simpler, currently, for me to use OpenRC on all of my setups. But the thing I most disliked with systemd was that it cannot work without journald.

To see what gcc picks up for your -march=native, run resolve-march-native --keep-mno-flags. Available as app-misc/resolve-march-native.

So… are you saying the contents of /home/user/folderApple-original really changes after you bindmount something over /home/user/folderApple? This seems odd. Do you have submounts under the original directory? Try with --rbind?

You need to

sudo mount --bind "/home/user/folderApple" "/home/user/folderApple-original"

before you

sudo mount --bind "/mnt/drive/folderBanana" "/home/user/folderApple".
