Last year, coal accounted for 60 per cent of Teck’s revenue and 75 per cent of its profit. (from the Globe and Mail)
This sounds like a massive downsizing. Is Teck in need of cash or is this a strategic move? Most of these mines produce metallurgical coal so not used for power generation. Do they see that steel production wil switch off coal? Are there even good alternatives to metallurgical coal?
The steam coming out of an Instant Pot. People have looked very worried when I put my hand into the steam blasting out.
I would like to join a cooperatively owned instance.
I have been tempted to join cosocial.ca, however I don’t care for microblogging (Mastodon) as much as something forum-like such as a Lemmy instance.
Those look great! How did you decide it was time to harvest them? This is my first year growing garlic.
Thanks. Fancy trap!
Good point about switching up the bait. I have some old cheese I might try.
I tried a trap-door bucket trap but they never went for it.
I have avoided netting because it sounds like it could get tangled. Would you apply the netting around a frame or lay it on the plants?
Hmm this is not a bad idea. It sounds relatively easy to construct and I think it might be enough. Thanks.
Thanks. It doesn’t look like it is available in Canada, unfortunately. Bobbex looks similar, but I can’t find anyone saying it is effective against rats.
I have been slowly learning to speak Mandarin. I haven’t been able to give it the time it needs to get to my goal of being able to have a basic conversation.
One of my goals is to travel around rural China but I doubt I will be able to do that without basic Chinese.
I believe it is because .ml domains are free to register. The founders have discussed this before.
Yes.
Does Britain owe reparations as well? Their society benefited from exploiting the people and land in these places.
They have great selection but often not the best price.
I look for products by adding “site:.ca” to the end of a web search to find other Canadian retailers.
Shopbot.ca is another helpful tool.
I find local retailers can have a lower price but are more difficult to search.
I prefer iD as well but it’s not suited for mobile. When out surveying both StreetComplete and OSM Go! are critical for me.
I use OSM Go! to add new features and it complements StreetComplete very well.
This is my first year growing a vegetable garden and I have been surprised by how productive it is. Lots of spinach, mustard, gai lan, kale so far.
I would like to add berries next year. Super market berries don’t compare to freshly picked seasonal ones.
On Slide for Reddit I filter out a lot of subreddits so my /r/all feed has less noise. Maybe this is something that could be implemented in Lemmur?
I am interested in growing indigenous edible plants however I have found it difficult to find a good list of species. Most resources focus on foraging and I was surprised to learn many of these plants are invasive and not indigenous.
Does anyone have recommendations? My region is the Pacific northwest.
Berries and bulbs seem the most common. I did not come across any information about squashes or maize so I suppose those were not traditionally grown here.
I am excited by this.
