if lemmy ever wants to succeed, we have to stop being obsessed with reddit and reddit drama.

Honestly, today with Reddit going through with the API changes and Twitter absolutely destroying their platform, this kind of feels like a lovely little campfire away from a collapsing civilization.

Not to be super dramatic, both platforms will still live, but lord it’s a weird couple of days for some internet communities.

Sadly way too many people are too lame to actually do anything in their personal lives about the API changes. Makes me kinda sad to see

I expect the exodus to be much less than some others are calling for, only because people are way more stubborn to breaking up with content than the app that serves it

I think all the people who would have migrated to Lemmy have already done so. Tomorrow will probably just be one more “normal” day for the lemmyverse.

We are the very loud minority, but one can hope that reddit implodes tomorrow…

That was my 11 to 9 year long app and I deleted it today (it was harder to delete the app than my profile). Today I bitch and moan. Tomorrow or maybe in a week I will be done and hopefully we just wash our hands of the current filth that is reddit and embrace the next gen. I’m excited to see what Lemmy can do.
