  • Bingo. Especially if you have a group of 3-4 that help split fuel, it’s immensely cheaper and arguably more fun. Plus, you’re not restricted what you can bring with you, you can stop to eat wherever you like, and you already have personal transport when you arrive. But, like you said, it’s really only worth it if you’re staying a few days. If you’re just going somewhere for a night and need to get back the next day, flight all the way.

  • The entire reason people keep using natural gas appliances, aside from infrastructure installed within one’s home, is because it costs a fraction of the operating costs of the same BTU for electric appliances. EV adoption has soared because utilities have made provisions that make owning and using an EV more cost effective than a gas-powered vehicle. Similar provisions need to be made to appliances. Additionally, tax credits would likely help, both for operation and installation. You’re driving a hard choice by not only factoring the cost of the new appliance, but also hiring an electrician to run a line, which can be several thousand dollars for just the wire install, not to mention drywall patch/paint.

I agree with the premise that we need to curb emissions yesterday, but people are going to go with whatever is the cheapest option, especially when most are as cash strapped as they are now.
