IANAL, but I’m guessing it’s to bring a sense of legitimacy to an otherwise batshit insane order. I feel like the Fed knows what they’re doing is illegal, but phrasing it this way makes it seem sane to their base (who too are batshit insane).

Bingo. Especially if you have a group of 3-4 that help split fuel, it’s immensely cheaper and arguably more fun. Plus, you’re not restricted what you can bring with you, you can stop to eat wherever you like, and you already have personal transport when you arrive. But, like you said, it’s really only worth it if you’re staying a few days. If you’re just going somewhere for a night and need to get back the next day, flight all the way.
They were eating meatballs and forgot to mention it, some say they’re still there to this day.
The entire reason people keep using natural gas appliances, aside from infrastructure installed within one’s home, is because it costs a fraction of the operating costs of the same BTU for electric appliances. EV adoption has soared because utilities have made provisions that make owning and using an EV more cost effective than a gas-powered vehicle. Similar provisions need to be made to appliances. Additionally, tax credits would likely help, both for operation and installation. You’re driving a hard choice by not only factoring the cost of the new appliance, but also hiring an electrician to run a line, which can be several thousand dollars for just the wire install, not to mention drywall patch/paint.
I agree with the premise that we need to curb emissions yesterday, but people are going to go with whatever is the cheapest option, especially when most are as cash strapped as they are now.
Absolutely, and I’ve had a lot of the more insane and extreme content block for a long time. That said, I don’t agree with admins making executive decisions on what users see and don’t see. In a similar vein, i stance admins are free to govern their servers as they please, which is why I’m bummed EE is going down, and why I’d like to find an instance that has a similar stand on federation.
It’s also extremely prevalent in areas of high humidity, further compounding sweaty asscrack syndrome.
Usually I see them go out due to brief power flashes and none of them have even a CMOS battery -esque setup where it can simply retain the time during a power interruption, which is likely a result of your point.
I just remember it being a thing a while back between World, Hexbear, ML, ExplodingHeads, etc where admins had a clash of views and decided to just sever federation. Like I get that some instances are run be wackos and some people don’t want to see certain certain content, but I’d rather make that choice myself as a user and block what I don’t want to see, as opposed to my instance admin making that decision for everyone. One thing I always appreciated about EE was that they defederated from spam and unsavory (ie CP) instances, but they left the majority of it to the user. I’m just not a fan of blanket bans, even if I agree with it.
AirBnB is almost directly responsible for the surge of housing prices in my local town, and they should die in a fire.
I’m just curious to find an instance that has the same hands-off approach to federation that allows me to choose what I see/block. Too many instance admins defederate on their own gumption, and while I’m sure there are reasons, I’d rather make the choice myself via blocking. I just found out about all this yesterday, and now it’s homework time.
Hours upon hours of pain and farts
I’d certainly hope so, but the idiots that I have the unfortunate necessity of dealing with are way too dense to make that connection.
VIDEO calls
One of the bigger reasons I don’t want an iPhone. I’d much rather talk than text as it usually is quicker, but I hate video calls.
Cept for that mall ninja junk, that stuff’s just silly.
Unfortunately, showing a brick to a fascist’s face will likely just reinforce their bullshit. Still effective though.
Genuine question, where else can you find a slew of car repair videos?
Especially considering it is directly violating the will of the people, at least in the locality it’s being executed in.
