Yes, they meant “Twitter is putting up barriers to browsing content.” Even if paywall wasn’t the right word, their intent was clear. Not sure why we feel the need to dive into whether they used the right word when the issue is Twitter (and Meta) attempting to seal off their users’ content behind a login. What the fuck kind of question is that? It’s misinformation. It’s misleading, because it makes a claim that is patently untrue. It makes an outright accusation that is demonstrably false. It’s not ambiguous, it’s not “close enough,” it’s simply incorrect. There is no reason to call it something that it isn’t, and every reason not to make some asinine false accusation.
