I’ve not played the latest Sims games, but I’m sure like a lot of you I played and enjoyed the originals a lot back in the day. Much like CK2 last week I’m sure it’s only free so they can tempt you into buying lots of expansions, but the base game itself looks alright. Anyone played this one enough to offer any insight?

so, I’ve only ever played the first sims waaaayyy back when. How does the free experience in this one compare to the first game? How much is it going to be badgering me to buy dlc?

Some of the reviews mention things like a washing machine being locked behind a paywall, how essential items are these?

It’s not like you can’t play the game without the DLCs - if there’s something behind a paywall, it doesn’t negatively affect your gameplay. The base game just doesn’t have that much content, the DLCs are not really a must, but if you want to enjoy it for a long time, the DLCs are a must. I sadly haven’t played TS1, but I played all the others and the base game of TS4 is the most lacking of them all. That said, with the DLCs (and mods) it’s enjoyable.
