Neither of them are good guys. Hopefully they distract each other from the war crimes in Ukraine. Take themselves out of the picture

IIRC a large enough portion are also prisoners that get pardoned if they help with the war effort. (obviously can’t run away/desert though.)

I think it’s an enemy of my enemy type of thing. Civil war in Russia may or may not be a good thing. I am not smart enough to know.

I think they know. They’re hoping the two military groups invading Ukraine eat each other.

The innocent

Historically wagner is Putin’s personal army, so I believe that this move is just to make skapegoats from Shoigu and the others from their national army.

So I believe that a loss for wagner’s troops would mean Putin’s arrest and the beginning of russian reconstruction, and that would be cool.

Also, the russian national forces have more legitimacy to rebuild Russia whitout Putin and also to not descend into total chaos.
