    yeah I also do not like the idea of the no compromise attitude in a democracy. Its a cornerstone of how it works. Granted though only when the other side compromises as well. In this case I think its fine relatively speaking.

      Nobody likes to compromise. I sure don’t. I would love to live in a world where we could fund Ukraine’s defense and find a humanitarian approach to the migration influx. And hell, throw in a bunch of investments and diplomatic interventions with the countries expediting the migrants while you’re at it.

      We don’t live in that world. We do have conservatives to tend with. They have the leverage to force a choice between those two things. Being a leader means making hard choices where there is no right answer, and this is one of them. I imagine we’ll see a harsher immigration stance come out of this, because it would also be solid political calculus in an election year. It sucks, but it’s the world we’ve all made it. I hope we find ourselves in a position with better people to compromise with next time.
