        Did you know there’s a math formula to determine how arboreal a species of skink is? Their total length compared to the length of their toes determines how high they climb!

        Did you know: early 20th century French blade sharpeners would lay face down, to preserve their posture and neck. But the work was cold, so they’d ’hire’ dogs to lay on their legs to keep them warm!

          Of course, who doesn’t know that? That’s what led to the great dog revolution of 1925 where they marched to Paris to demand equal pay and rights, which is why dogs have voting rights in France today. I think. And if it’s not true it’s still a fascinating story I made up right now. Either way, working face down to save the neck sounds pretty good. I should redo my work-from-home environment. Thanks for the fun fact!

    I love looking around on google maps/earth. Especially now that the satellite quality is so good, you can zoom in pretty close.

    Falling down Wikipedia rabbit holes is another good way to accidentally waste a few hours

      Did you know that most of the US-Mexico border is one long river? Do no try to follow it trying to locate where the border deviates from the river…

    I do this, but it’s exploring railroad lines instead. I like to see what equipment the crossing signals have (you can sometimes run into some cool vintage or rare stuff) and sometimes the SV car catches a train passing.

    You mean people are finding the origin of waterways and follow them down stream? How do you find the origin? I always go up stream on maps
