Depends. The human body can be surprisingly resilient to physical trauma, grenades vary in type are lethality, and there’s also just dumb luck that the fragments didn’t hit anything immediately lethal too.
It’s often misunderstood that explosives ’lethality raduis’ means everyone inside 3/10/20/etc meters is 100% a goner. It actually means that deaths are more probable than not, which is why there’s a second ‘effective radius’ published in military literature. The former radius is a good chance of immediate death. A small chunk of metal exploding in all directions doesn’t blanket 100% of a much larger area, but the dispersion can be expected to achieve hits on human sized targets.
