So I stumbled on this instance https://lemmy.directory/ and wanted to sub to it so I can find more communities and posts, but I can’t seem to find how to sub to the instance itself, not any of the communities within this instance. Is this possible? Or can I browse this instance’s “all” from beehaw?

Thanks in advance!

    Not sure about an entire instance however looks like you can browse their community list and subscribe to them individually:

    List = https://lemmy.directory/communities

    Sidebar info on how to subscribe:

    You are not logged in. However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon. To do this, paste the following into the search field of your instance: !chat@lemmy.directory

    Edit: here’s a direct link example showing option to subscribe to above:
    https://beehaw.org/c/chat@lemmy.directory

      It does looks like there’s a couple edge cases missing with respect to browsing community lists. From the web UI, you can click on Communities > All, then search by community name, but I don’t think you can browse on a per-instance basis. For me at least, if I go to Community search from Beehaw, click All, and type @lemmy.ml for example, I get zero results. On the web, you can just go to lemmy.ml (or wherever) directly and look at their list, but it’s still a little tough to browse non-local communities on apps/Jerboa.

      That’s what I’ve doing more or less. Find a community and edit the URL to sub from Beehaw. Wish there’s a way to be more streamlined and easy to sub from my home instance.

        You shouldn’t have to edit the URL, you can just search for !chat@lemmy.directory from the BeeHaw search, and it’ll find it! Once other people from BeeHaw have subscribed to a community, it’ll turn up by just searching “chat” also.
