It’s called gallows humour. Everything is fucked, half the population of the world seems intent on doing everything in their power to make it worse, and of the remaining half, most are too busy just surviving to put any real effort into fixing things. There’s not much hope, so we might as well have a laugh at the figurehead of the rising shit-tide.

Just because someone sees the world as it is, and not as they wish it to be, doesn’t mean they’re a plant. I want the left to work together. But anyone that can forgive an actual genocide isn’t an actual leftist.

I agree, MLs who ignore the actual genocide in Ukraine aren’t leftists, they are campists.

I would think they are more Stalinist than campist. But I don’t know much about the campists. I agree that they aren’t leftist though. Isn’t the aim of politics to reduce deaths, not increase them.

Finally a real person. I’ll read it and get back to ya.

Edit: Very good. I did not know the DSA had a forum. Thanks. I’m still a little confused.

The Trots were the original campists. But Internationalists consider current iterations of China and the former USSR as campists.

Did I get that right? I read it quickly, so I may have missed some points. I have Internationalist leanings, so any resources you can give me would be helpful.

Pretty sure the things democrats want go against the downsides of rampant uncontrolled late stage capitalism- you know, things like health care, high minimum wage, regulation and taxation of the rich and corporations, breaking up monopolies, you know, all those things the fucking Cheeto wants the opposite of.

Gottit. You can decry capitalism and the cheeto. Why suggest these are at odds? It’s not like the cheeto is going to help with late stage capitalism, is he?

Complaining about other people not doing something is also you not doing something. If you want to see something done then do it

Situation with poverty and housing (economics parameters) is arguably better than in the past. And not just better, much better. The rest is not capitalism crisis. They are civilizational problems.

Because if they open up discussion about the real issues, such as the concentration camps or healthcare crisis, they’ll have to admit that they’re complicit, so they deflect by pretending the bad things about Trump are superficial things like his appearance or manner of speech.

Meanwhile the other side deflects conversation from doing real terrible things by stirring up controversy from superficial things (helped by large distributors of misinformation)
