Was just looking at going to the Vegas GP, its only a 16hour drive for me.
2200$ standing tickets for Saturday wow just wow. That’s not travel, lodging, or food costs.
I checked for Sakura GP, we could fly to Tokyo, Hotel, and GP tickets. Plus stay for a week with $2k travel costs. Not including food and other fun expenses.
I’ll take my foreign vacation with a dash of F1 please. Also maybe they have a Yukon grandstand. Go Yuki!
Gotta love that there are now races in America so us Americans can keep flying to Europe to watch races
Or Canada, which is what I’m doing lol. ~$450 for a grandstand seat at the hairpin all weekend. But I think Zandvoort might be in the cards next year, I’ve heard that’s a pretty reasonable race to attend as well.
Zandvoort looks amazing just for the scenery alone. Add in a race!!!
Zandvoort has the benefit of being in a small, densely populated country with decent public transport. So you can stay at a hotel in some less touristy or obvious city and still get to the track in maybe 2 hours and see some Dutch landscapes from the train (it’s a bit boring to me, but it’s always nice to see another country). You can then visit a city like Amsterdam (for museums and the tourist traps), Dordrecht or Leiden (both more authentic and beautiful cities. Also less tourists, so I should tell you this and change that) in the days after the GP when the hotel prices there are back to normal.
It’s on the list of places for us to visit for sure.
Right. Even Canadian GP is pretty much pricing me out.
Plus why go to Canada when you can go to Europe?
How do? Ticket prices in Canada are among the most economical: https://f1destinations.com/ranked-how-much-do-f1-tickets-cost-in-2023/.
Are you getting hit on airfare/accomodations compared to the other inexpensive international races?
Hmm always wanted to go to Japan, sounds like a extra reason to go
I’ve been in 2016 for the GP and got tickets for this year too. Our tickets are fantastic seats, just down Turn 1/2 for the same price as COTA GA this year. Can’t wait. It’s a great country to tourist in, the track is fantastic.
We got pretty annoyed by COTA in 2021, it was better pre-covid (less people, less lines, way less expensive, and the shuttles were an absolute disaster) and went to Mexico last year. Great experience, similar door-to-door cost to sit in Foro Sol (stadium) Norte as GA in COTA (flight was more, tickets were a little more, but hotel and food were way cheaper). Highly recommend.
Vegas… Same sentiments (and I have family there), you can do better for the same cost!
We have been wanting to go for the last few years. It’s in the cards but timing has been an issue. Glad to hear it was a good time. Watching the fans during the races makes it looks like Sakura would be a fun race to attend
Vegas and Miami aren’t races for us common folk, they’re for the socialites.
We have Monaco at home
Yeah I was excited with the Vegas news since I’m only 4hrs away, but then when I saw the prices I couldn’t believe it. I’m close enough to drive there but not close enough for a turn around. When you factor in hotel/event costs and traffic, I could only imagine the nightmare it would be to try and make a weekend out of it.
I lived in Austin for 5 years. I refused to fork out $400 for a partially obscured view of the track. $2200 is just absolutely bonkers.
