The post movie discussion threads are one of my favorite things from reddit. Lets keep these going!
This movie was phenomenal and I will be rewatching it probably tomorrow
Fantastic movie. The cinematography is hard to describe in any other words than beautiful. Everything was so well thought out. Every frame could be a still shot and be a poster, that’s how artistic it is.
Just came back from the theater. It’s amazing! The visuals and storytelling are great. I appreciate how it’s been well thought-out like the first movie— probably even more.
Shout-out to the random dude who yelled, “Come on!” at the end credits lol.
(Technically not a spoiler but if you want to go into the movie blind…)

Sorta felt the same way they did when it said, “to be continued.” But I can’t really complain that there’s more to come.

it’s weird because at some point the movie WAS called part 1 but I guess it got removed at some point? so my expectations were in check. i think they should have kept it. but I also am happy they didn’t at the same time: really felt like I got to experience a retread of the empire strikes back

To be honest, the ending bothered me a little. In my opinion, it’s only OK to end on a cliffhanger if the story is tied up enough that you could be satisfied if the next one never came. For example, both Empire Strikes Back and Infinity Wars both end on a cliffhanger (sort of) in that they both end with the protagonist losing; but in Empire Luke and Leia definitively get away and in Infinity Wars the Avengers definitively lose. While both of those endings are the protagonists’ low points, the movies could be complete even with no sequel
Meanwhile, Across the Spider-Verse’s story is still majorly incomplete and if there was no follow up, it would feel like the first half of a movie forever (though an exceptional one). The interesting thing to me, is I think the movie would feel more complete if they cut material out. Since Gwen’s arc (not having a support system and not feeling loved by her sole remaining family member) was tied up at the end and Miles had the climactic escape from Nueva York, I think the movie would have felt more tied up if they saved all the Earth-42 scenes (including Prowler!Miles) for the next movie. That way both protagonists has a more finite end point for the movie. That’s my opinion, anyway.
just so you know you gotta take those last three :::
and move them to the line below it for the spoiler to work. you can look at the source of another spoiler comment to see how it works in more detail
Sorry. I didn’t even realize the spoiler tags did anything (they don’t show up on Jerboa). I thought you were just trying to be as obvious as you could there were spoilers, so I tried to copy your formatting, but I didn’t do it exactly.
It should be working now (hopefully).
all fixed!
FYI: for some reason the formatting in your comment isn’t working
Sorry, the spoiler tags don’t show up for me in Jerboa, but I think (hope) I fixed it.

I loved the movie but had no idea that this was going to be a multi part event. So when that To Be Continued hit I was a little taken back. Then realized down the road I am going to get another 2 HOURS of this fantastic story.
I think that yelling guy was also in my cinema.
I’m hoping to see this when I have a moment - quite excited, first was great
